About Kohlu
Kohlu is a district located in Balochistan, Pakistan. Kohlu basically comprises of two tribes, the Marri tribe is the main ethnic group in the city followed by the Zarghoons. The stories of the Marri Tribe can be found in the local folklore and are famous for a history of producing warriors. The history of Kohlu District is primarily the history of Marri tribes. The land of brave and courageous people who stood firm against the Colonial rule and struggled to bring back power to the locals. Kohlu is connected by road with Multan through Fort Munro and DG Khan.
About TFGS Kohlu
Dr. Zafar Qadir – the then Political Agent and head of the district government in Kohlu (Balochistan) during 1989-90 conceived the idea of launching an English medium, co-education, modern educational institution in the foothold of the Marri tribe to combat poverty and crime through educational endeavors and to encourage community development through consultative process.
In the foothold of the mountains in Kohlu, the school is till date functional. It has provided tremendous opportunities to students and gave them the skills and abilities in order to make them competitive at national level. The oldest school of the foundation has also proved to be the best school academically for the past couple of years.
It has a capacity of 500 students and is operated under the leadership of it’s Principal who has been serving the people of Balochistan for over two decades now – Ms. Waheeda Nasreen. The school staff makes sure to provide the best educational facilities to the students in this remote area of Kohlu. In 1989, it only had 30 students – the journey of success has been fruitful for this school.
Ms. Waheeda Nasreen resident of Multan completed her M.A. Urdu from Islamia University Bhawalpur. Before joining Taaleem Foundation on 1st March 1993 as a teacher she started her professional life as a Radio Artist. She was transferred to Taaleem Foundation Grammar School Zhob as a Principal in March of 2001. She resigned to go abroad in September of 2001 and after a period of about two and a half years she rejoined TF Grammar School Kohlu as a Principal in March 2004. Under her guidance and management, her school ranked first in the TF Board of Examinations for many years .
The school comprises of 28 classrooms, library, computer room, science room and a number of on-campus staff residences.
